Who is the Employee Academy for?
Any credit union employee, from frontline staff to senior leadership, who wants to understand the cooperative movement and connect their daily work to the mission.
What does it actually mean to work for a movement instead of just a company?
It shows up in the language and the daily decisions. Institutions that talk about “customer acquisition and retention” build a different culture than institutions that talk about “member benefit and cooperative purpose” — the vocabulary shapes behavior below the level of conscious decision. One credit union CEO summed up the difference in six words: “Banking is what we do, but people are who we are.”
Isn't front-line member service becoming obsolete with mobile banking apps?
The technology matters, but it doesn’t replace the reason credit unions exist. An app can execute a transaction in seconds — it can’t recognize that the member making that transaction seems to be in financial distress and ask a question that actually helps. The strongest credit unions combine genuine digital convenience with genuine human credibility, and that second part is squarely an employee’s job, not a feature request.
Does the Employee Academy include governance training?
No. Governance topics are reserved for the separate Board Academy, which is written specifically for volunteer directors.
Can all six Employee Academy modules be purchased individually?
Yes. Each module’s PowerPoint and workbook are available separately, or as part of the Complete Employee Academy Package.
